Why stalls and sheds scramble for labels
Packed cakes for a cake shed, stall or bake sale often need a clear ingredients list with allergens emphasised. Doing that by hand for every brownie and cupcake flavour eats the evening before you open.
BakeSafe is built for that weekly rush: scan packs, check the text, print, and keep the product in your account. Manufacturers sometimes change what is in a pack, so it is on you to review before you reprint. If something has changed, rescan that one pack or edit the ingredient yourself. Everything stays editable.
How to prep stall labels in BakeSafe
List what you will sell packed
Start with the products that will be boxed or wrapped before customers choose.
Photo the ingredient packs
Scan each pack for a recipe. Use bulk upload when you have several packs ready.
Check, then print
Review against the packs you are using now. If a manufacturer has changed the ingredients list, upload a single new pack photo to rescan, or add/edit the ingredient in BakeSafe and type the updated text. You are never stuck with an old scan.
Who this is for
- Cake shed and cottage bakery owners packing bakes ahead
- Home bakers doing markets, stalls and school bake sales

Frequently asked questions
Do I need allergen labels for a cake stall?
If you pre-pack food for direct sale, UK PPDS rules (often called Natasha’s Law) commonly require a full ingredients list with the 14 major allergens emphasised. Always check current FSA guidance for your setup.
What about open trays where customers point and choose?
Rules can differ when food is not prepacked. This page focuses on packed stall and shed products. When in doubt, check official FSA guidance for your format.
Can I reuse labels next week?
Products stay in your BakeSafe account so you are not starting from scratch every stall. You still need to review the packs: manufacturers sometimes change ingredients. If a list has changed, rescan that one pack with a single photo, or edit/add the ingredient and type the new text. There is always room to edit.
